Data for 1.5 million visitors
in two days
The tn.cz portal is one of the most visited news websites in the Czech Republic (1.5 million monthly visits), which is why visualizing current data related to the COVID-19 epidemic is essential for them.
This comes with great responsibility, as during a crisis, the media represent the primary source of quality and unbiased information for Czech citizens.
The tn.cz editorial team approached us with a request for the express delivery of visualizations of data sets on the current spread of the coronavirus. The condition was that the processed outputs in the form of interactive charts could be immediately embedded on the tn.cz portal without any modifications to the website's code.

Fast analysis
and rapid delivery
We rapidly analyzed publicly available data sources, tested their functionality, and identified options for embedding the charts on the tn.cz portal.
Within two days we had a solution that gives visitors a clear overview of the course of the epidemic in the Czech Republic and worldwide. The overview is supplemented by additional demographic indicators and curves showing the development of the number of infections.
Tracking the number
of positive cases
One of the key visualizations was an interactive chart tracking the development of the number of positively tested cases. Users could monitor daily increases as well as cumulative development at the national level.
Data was updated automatically from public sources so the portal always displayed the most current information without the need for manual editorial intervention.
Live map
of cases by district
An interactive map let visitors check the current situation in their region. The visualization covered the distribution of cases by district as well as demographic data such as the breakdown of infections by gender and age.
We also processed visualizations of the development of the number of hospitalized COVID patients and a comparison of the development of infection counts versus deaths.
Vaccination overview
and hospitalizations in the Czech Republic
As the pandemic evolved, we expanded the visualizations to include a vaccination overview for the Czech Republic and the proportion of hospitalized patients relative to the total number of people with an currently active illness.
All visualizations were designed to be immediately embeddable on the tn.cz portal without any modifications to the website's code, allowing the editorial team to respond flexibly to the evolving situation.
